Determine a nice spot to catch the fish you want, then go upstream a little and cast your line. This will take your baited hook past the fish. The flow downstream is a more natural motion that is more effective in drawing the fish in to take the bait. This method is especially helpful when the fish is in an area with debris or obstructions.
Bass Fishing
If you lack fishing expertise and are a newcomer to the sport, you may want to try bass fishing. The reason is because bass stand a greater chance of biting, and it is easier to reel them in. Bass fishing continues to provide enjoyment even when you are experienced at it because they can put up a rewarding fight.
A good tip for any fisherman is to get the correct license for your fishing area. In the United States, you need a different fishing license for each state, and you can choose from either a day, or year-long license.
You don’t want your fishing trip to be memorable because you spent the day freezing in the pouring rain. Make sure to look at a forecast before you head out. Check both a week before and the day before you plan to go fishing. If the weather does not look favorable, than go ahead and re-schedule your trip.
Catching Fish
Always consider the weather forecast when you are planning to go fishing. The weather is not always suitable for catching fish. Overcast conditions are actually favorable for catching fish, though. Although you can certainly catch your share of fish under other conditions, overcast skies greatly increase your odds of catching a lot of fish.
Temperature and time are crucial factors in catching fish. In the case of bass, the bigger fish are more likely to come out at dawn and dusk when their preferred bait fish are also more active. Just be certain the water temperature is higher than 50 degrees if you are going fishing during these times.
Use the natural current to your advantage. If you can see or feel a current, go with it. Put your lure in the natural flow of the stream and tug it lightly, intermittently to mimic the motions of live bait. The lure is much more likely to be spotted by the fish this way.
Be aware that some fish have sharp backward facing teeth. The teeth on these fish are very sharp, and the fish will try to bite you. When you are certain the fish has died, hold it by its pectoral surface and extract the hook. If however you wish to turn the fish back into the water, wear gloves and remove the hook immediately.
Stay with your fishing course, even when you aren’t catching much at all. You must be patient to fish well. Spend at least 30 minutes in any fishing area before you decide whether it is a good place to fish or not. There are tons of things that can affect where the fish are in the area; a lot of movement, time of day, and weather conditions all can have an effect.
As previously mentioned, many find fishing to be entertaining and relaxing as well as a way to bond with friends and family. Make the most of your next outing by applying some of the above fishing advice.
